But,
if your heart so desires, you can make a stop at the Aligré
market in the Opéra - Bastille neighbourhood, one of the
liveliest and busiest: you won't go home empty handed.
for
lovers of culture :
There
is plenty to cultivate your mind in the different neighbourhoods
of the 12th arrondissement. First of all you can spend the evening
in splendid surroundings, at the Opéra - Bastille, where
you can see sumptuous shows.
In
this same neighbourhood you can marvel at the Gare de Lyon, a baroque
style building, with rooms inside which are listed as historic monuments.
In
the Nation neighbourhood, you can stop at Place de la Nation, where
there was originally a guillotine, and at the Picpus cemetery, where
all those guillotined are buried.
To
the south-east of this neighbourhood, at the site of the Palais
Omnisports of Bercy, you will find the Musée des Arts Forains,
and the vineyards of Bercy.
You
can end your cultural outing in the Bois de Vincennes. Its castle
is open to visitors, as is the Musée des Arts d'Afrique et
d'Océanie: a busy day in prospect.
for
lovers of shopping:
The
12th arrondissement has numerous luxury boutiques all along Avenue
Daumesnil. It is not, however, the best arrondissement for shopping.
Only the Aligré market will live up to your expectations,
in a lively, pleasant setting!
To remember : L'Opéra - Bastille
